AIA Tucson Society Co-sponsors Joe Goodkin’s Odyssey: A Folk Opera
Chicago-based Singer and Songwriter Joe Goodkin has adapted Homer’s Odyssey to the modern world. The piece maintains the story of Homer’s massive, 24-book epic poem, while transforming it into a 30-minute, 24-song “folk opera,” which has been honored with three awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Please join us to experience Odysseus’ many-turning journey home in this living interpretation of one of the founding works of world literature! ree and open to the public.

AIA Tucson Society Outreach to Fruchthendler Elementary School Tucson Unified School District
Board Members Katie MacFarland and Brendan Hermann lectured on Ancient Greek Ceramics and worked with students on hands-on activities in the form of puzzles of famous Greek ceramics. The event was a huge success imprimpressing students, parents, and teachers.

AIA Tucson Society at Basis School, Tucson
The AIA Society of Tucson and Southern Arizona Board Member and University of Arizona Graduate Student Emilio Rodrigo-Alvarez visited the Tucson BASIS school to celebrate International Archaeology Day and explain the next generation of archaeologists the different cultures of the world! The talk covered the most important periods of the human past in Old and New World. The students were eager to know more about how archaeologists can learn from the objects they find in the excavations, and how those help them to understand the peoples that preceded us. We thank the Basis teacher and AIA Tucson Society member Billie Rolla for her kind invitation.

AIA Tucson Society at Santa Catalina Senior Living Center
AIA Society of Tucson sponsored a lecture at the Santa Catalina Senior Living Center for International Archaeology day. AIA Society of Tucson President Dr. Eleni Hasaki presented information about the society's exciting events and University of Arizona Graduate Student and AIA Tucson Society Board Member Vicki Moses (pictured above) presented a lecture on Etruscan archaeology to this enthusiastic and welcoming group of the Tucson community. The outreach lecture was followed by excellent questions!
